[unpadchoir.com Bandung, 25/6/2024] Padjajaran University is a university that hones its students’ academics well, but also supports the abilities that students have. This is evidenced by the facilities provided by Unpad, namely providing Student Activity Units or Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM), which are institutions where students gather on the basis of having the same interests and want to channel them through extracurricular activities on campus. One of the UKMs at Padjajaran University is Padjadjaran Student Choir or commonly known as Unpad Choir.

Unpad Choir is an active UKM to maintain its existence so that it can achieve its vision. There are various programs that have been designed, one of which is an internal concert. The internal concert is a concert performed annually by the two youngest batches of Unpad Choir members. In 2024, Unpad Choir again held an internal concert after the previous internal concert which was held in 2023. This year’s internal concert is the 19th internal concert of Unpad Choir. The 2024 Intern Concert is titled Crescentia, with the jargon “Grow with melodies, fly through memories”, involving the two youngest batches of Unpad Choir, namely the 2022 and 2023 batches who became singers at this concert.

This year’s internal concert session was different from the previous year’s session. There were several sessions featured, with a total of 18 songs, including Classical By Period, Contemporary International Music, Popular and Musical Broadway, and Indonesian Folksong.

The first session opened with a Classical by Period session with the song “Cantante Domino”. Unpad Choir successfully brought this song that describes gratitude to God with appreciation. The Classical by Period session was closed with the song “III.Ronde”. The tense and gripping atmosphere depicted in this song was well conveyed. Followed by the second session, namely the Contemporary International Music session with the opening song “La Cucaracha” which is quite energetic and expressive. The third session was no less exciting, the Popular and Musical Broadway session. All the singers poured out their passion when singing “The Greatest Show”. The audience sang along when Queen’s “Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy” was performed.

Not only that, the closing session of the Intern Concert was Indonesian Folksong. The concert was closed with a different session from the previous sessions, in this session the audience was presented with the performance of regional songs in Indonesia, such as the song “Cik-cik Periuk” from West Kalimantan, “Demi Wanci” from West Java. The Intern concert was closed by the song “Sitara Tillo” with Batak music. The song managed to be a satisfying and memorable closing for the 19th Intern Concert “Crescentia” this time.

Arvin Zeinullah as the main coach said that the Crescentia Concert had successfully displayed the spirit of the youngest two-year members of Unpad Choir and provided a positive example of the results of student activities at Unpad. According to Arvin, the selection of programs, vocal abilities and also the quality of the Concert Intern has increased, especially since the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. Arvin also expressed his hopes, namely that the Crescentia concert that was attended would be a booster for singers to better understand student voice activities, encourage all Crescentia singers to participate in further activities and love Unpad Choir even more.

Christina Natalia Saragi, as the conductor of the Popular & Musical Broadway session, felt happy and relieved because this year’s Intern Concert program was finally completed and the results of several months of training paid off when performed on the concert stage. Christina expressed her hope that the Intern Concert in the future Unpad Choir can maintain the number of singers who have been good this year. She hopes that all the shortcomings in this year’s Intern Concert can be a lesson for next year’s Intern Concert. There are so many good things obtained from this year’s Intern Concert that can be brought to concerts and other Unpad Choir activities. Finally, Christina also hopes that this year’s intern concert can also be a memorable and good memory for her fellow singers, and can transmit a sense of enthusiasm to the next concert.

As the chairperson of the 19th Unpad Choir Intern Concert: Crescentia, Geivy felt proud that this concert could be carried out satisfactorily. She felt that everyone had put in their best effort, both the singers who performed at the concert and the behind-the-scenes committee who had been preparing for this concert since long ago. She hopes that this concert can be a growing experience that will continue to be an unforgettable memory for every element in it.
