Exploring the American Culture in @america Holiday Season Choir
In this event, Unpad Choir performed Oh Shenandoah, Georgia on My Mind, and some songs composed by American composers, like As Long as I Have Music by Don Besig and You Are the Love of My Life by Michael Masser and Linda Creed. Unpad Choir also sang The Lion Sleeps Tonight and Kicir-Kicir. Laughter from the spectators can be heard clearly in the performance of Mission Impossible Theme Song because all of the singers wore sunglasses and acted like a secret agent.
Unpad Choir has been preparing this performance for weeks. This preparation resulted to a great performance by Unpad Choir, as explained by Rosalina Ramadhanni as @america’s Cultural Affairs Specialist, “I was really impressed with Unpad Choir’s performance, I think this is my first time watching a performance from university students that looked so professional. Their voice quality also deserved to go international. I hope Unpad Choir can perform again in @america and will participate in @america’s future event” she explained.
Similar as Rosalina, one of the spectators, Emanuela said that Unpad Choir’s performance yesterday was really unforgettable. “The performance was very delightful and captivating. The way they deliver the messages from the songs were really unique so commoners will still enjoy their performance. The song list was also easy to listen.” She added.
@america is an American Cultural Center under the patronage of the Embassy of United States of America, where Indonesian youth can explore deeper about United States of America and many interesting issues about America or Indonesia. “@america Holiday Season Choir was being held to celebrate the holiday season which is an American Culture by involving the youth such as university student, the target audience of @america” Brenda G. Susanto, @america’s Cultural Affairs Assistant explained. (Maharani Praphesti)
